Why I started The Lepak Initiative

“Lepak”
A word of Malay origin that describes the act of hanging or chilling out by doing nothing.

I started The Lepak Initiative with a primary goal in mind: to share the hobby of board gaming with the people around me. What started as a small collection from December 2017 has turned into a carefully curated library of games that I enjoy. With the amount of board games out right now and many more to come, each with their own set of mechanics, theres bound to be something for everyone.

In the fast paced environment we live in, board gaming allows us to take a step back to make way for a lepak session with friends. Setting up the game becomes an almost therapeutic exercise that relaxes the mind and facilitates conversation between family and friends; something that we seem to have taken for granted since the beginning of the pandemic.

It was always a pleasant surprise when friends who I never thought would be interested in board gaming slid in to my DMs; asking what game I was playing or if I had any recommendations. Being able to recommend games and potentially grow the community surrounding board gaming has always been very heart warming and I hope I can convince you to join in the fun too!
